Creativity
for Peace Camp brings adolescent aged young women to the Santa Fe area, from
Israel and Palestine, for a two-week intensive camp experience. The camp is a
non-sectarian, non-political environment, held under the auspices of the Deva
Foundation, which is a non-profit, 501(c)(3).
Mission Statement
Our goal and hope, is that, through learning to express themselves by way of
using meaningful dialogue and artistic techniques in a safe and supportive
environment, the young women who attend Creativity for Peace Camp return home
and spread the word of alternative responses to violence and war and hatred.
Art
We believe that art can help heal emotional wounds. The goal of Creativity for
Peace is teaching all participants to find her artist voice. We use various
techniques, including: journal writing and drawing, mixed media, painting,
sculpture and photography. It is widely accepted that art builds self-esteem,
and that art also increase communication skills and problem solving.
Dialogue
Communication between people, especially those who live isolated from feared
groups, is a learned skill. One of the richest times for learning communication
skills is during adolescence. For long-term change to take place, people must be
able to build meaningful relationships with one another. These relationships can
only develop over time, in a non-threatening setting.

In this life
we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love.
