Take your attention to the center of your heart. Take a breath. Be aware of the sensation of your breath.
Breathing in loving kindness and compassion, draw it into your heart for your own well-being. Feel the healing. Whispering to yourself in your heart, let loving kindness grow in your heart. "For my benefit and for the benefit of all sentient beings, may I be at peace. May I know the joy of my own true nature." As your heart melts into your true nature of loving-kindness and mercy, extend this energy to someone you care deeply for. In your heart say to them, "May you be happy, may you be free of suffering and may you be at peace. May you be happy, just as I wish to be happy." Breathe in loving kindness and compassion, and then send it out to another, for the benefit of another being who also only wants to be happy and at peace. Let this breath of loving kindness be extended to that person. "May we all be happy. May we all let go of the suffering that binds us and return to our true nature. May we be at peace." Let the heart of compassion envelop you. Feel your heart of compassion. Now, let this heart of compassion continue to extend out to the whole world-to all beings everywhere. "May all beings be free of suffering, may all beings forgive themselves and others. May all beings be happy. May all beings be at peace and know the joy of their own true nature." "May all beings on all planes of existence who also want to be free of suffering know the joy of their true nature. May all beings be happy. May all beings be at peace." Return to the awareness of your breathing and gently open your eyes.
